You're going to poop on the table. They do not care what your pubic hair looks like. You will get shaved for a C section though. Or at least, I did.
Yup. I pooped twice! Only knew because I could smell it and the nurse did some furious whisking away of the paper under me. OH WELL.
I somehow managed to not poop on the table but DD passed quite a lot of meconium in utero so meconium was coming out with every contraction. Meaning I pretty much pooped out of my vagina with every contraction. So yeah, pubic hair was not on the list of things I cared about in that moment. I will say, I wish I'd gotten a wax down there sometime in my last month of pregnancy because my hedge was quite overgrown by that point. It didn't matter one bit during labor but trying to clean up all the lochia in the weeks after I gave birth with all the hair down there was rough, especially with all the stitches.
I have never thought of meconium this way, bravo PP, for the visual imagery! My midwife told me that pooping is a good thing because you use the same muscles to squeeze out a poop and a baby, so it lets them know you're pushing correctly. I definitely pooped, but didn't care a bit by that point.
This isn't quite correct. The muscles are similar, but it's a completely different muscle. I remember focusing on the pushing muscle when I was delivering and it wasn't the same as poop. I took Colace every day for 3 days before delivery hoping that it would spur contractions (nope!) but it did have the bonus of not having anything in my body to poop out. I basically spent 3 days on the toilet before my induction thanks to colace.
I mean castor oil! Colace is nice, castor oil isn't.
