I wouldn't. Do your belly button instead! |
Totally professional for an 18 year old waitress. |
Don't listen to the pp posters the claim its unprofessional. It can be very flattering. I have a tiny blue crystal stud. I get compliments all the time and I've had it over a year and a half and recently got a huge promotion. It doesn't hurt for more then a few seconds. Keep it clean and buy this stuff in a can called H2Ocean. Its salt water that is so easy to spray on. You spray it on and it helps it heal and cleans it. Do it op. If you hate it, you can take it out. You can always take it out for work when it heals or put a clear stud in so its not noticeable. Do it! |
Eeeewwww. I think it's gross & I don't like how it looks.
But it sounds like you really do like how it looks, and it's your body, so go ahead. Just know that a lot of people find it unprofessional-looking or otherwise unappealing (including me). Not judging you, just giving my opinion since you asked. If you don't care what people think, then that won't bother you. To each his own, right? |
It always looks like the person has a bugger on their nose when they have a stud. It must feel like a bugger too having that in your nasal cavity. |
They put images of boogers or badly placed moles in my mind, too. But even more importantly, OP, you're about to start looking middle-aged in a couple of years. Even those things that are actually cute on younger women are much riskier on women of a certain age. |
I pierced my nose when I was 18 and kept it in until I was 25. I took it off because I thought it made me look young and not as professional as I wanted. I went into it wanting a tiny stud, and was surprised that the majority of tiny studs available are still relatively big. I actually had to have a jeweler make a tiny, teeny, diamond stud for me. I really liked it, and I also had my tongue pierced, have several holes in both my ears, and have a tattoo. Nowdays, I have only 3 holes in each ear (only use one earring in each though), and my tattoo is in a private place. I would like another one, but DH is not a fan...
Not sure what my advice would be... |
A stud is fine. People will not even notice it! |
Have you thought that people can be really nasty being ironic when complimenting a middle aged woman about a nose ring? ![]() |
Do it if you want to but I hear it really hurts. Supposedly great for oral sex though. |
what does nose piercing has to do with oral sex? ![]() |
You can always say your part Indian. |
You mean you've never heard of Tantric nasal sex? Where do live, Oklahoma? |
LOL |
I think that in your heart of hearts you already know how it would be perceived at work. It's a risk; at worst, a career limiting move; at best, neutral. No one will see it as a positive. Do you want to stay, advance at DOJ? Do you have a position where you're the face of the agency, or are you more behind the scenes? Are you looking to move to another, more creative field? What do you hope to be doing 10, 15, 20 years from now? Do you envision that your supervisor at that job will have visible piercings? But worst case, you do it, figure it's a mistake and let it close up. People have done worse in the workplace and recovered from it. |
