$500 Airline Credit- Where Should I Go?

The zoo is great, as is balboa park right next door. They have great museums (unfortunately not free like here). There’s a carousel, mini train ride, and some neat cactus/desert gardens. You may like old town. This past trip, we went to miners gems and minerals http://www.minersgemsandminerals.com/ which I had never heard of despite living in San Diego for my first 14 years and visiting at least 2x a year since. For $5 your kid can pan for gems and minerals. My kid and his cousins loved it and came away with a small bag of beautiful rocks. So cool. The aquarium is the birch aquarium in La Jolla and it’s great as well. If you’re up for a little drive, Julian and the cuyamacas are fun (and I think you can make kind of a loop with the the Anza borrego desert). You would have a blast.

OP here. I'll start looking into these sites. Much appreciated!!!

Also, any suggestions on if it's better to go in April or May?

I'd book a flight down to Providenciales Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, and enjoy a beautiful relaxing vacation with the family by that stunning water.

San Diego sounds like too much work.
