| Thank you very much! Maybe Psul VI is different. I wish we had my DS's back but 1/22 seems more realistic. It could be later due to the first test being postponed due to weather. This wait and process is killing me. Ha. Did your child end up at SJC? It's the only school my DS wants to attend. So, I'm praying. |
| We’re in a different archdiocese (Baltimore) and got scores via email on Monday. Sounds like DC does things differently. |
Yes, the wait is terrible. I agree. She did get accepted at SJC, but decided to go to Good Counsel. I liked both schools so I would have been happy with either choice. We do live in upper MOCO, so the commute is easier at GC, but my husband commutes via the metro and she could have done that, as well. Good luck!! It will be over soon

Thanks PP! Happy for your DD. Great school. We live down the street from SJC so it's so perfect in many ways. I just need to display the virtue of patience. Ha!! Can you tell me the range of HSPT she got? I don't know anyone who had been through this process and why I'm on a anonymous board
|
Sure. She got a 91 on the HSPT. |
My child is there and I would not describe any school as perfect. And, we live in the neighborhood too. |
| Thanks PP. YIKES 91 is so high. I don't think he will score that high. To the last poster, I totally agree but he just felt like it was perfect. I would say is slightly above average --not a superstar student but very solid B student at a K-8 private. He is a great 2 sport athlete who also has interest in the arts. I liked it too. It really seems like the kids are happy and engaged. Seems like many middle class families (which we are) and it just felt a great place. My fingers are crossed!! |
| I checked from two years ago when my older child was in 8th grade and I'm guessing it may be this Thursday evening we get results (based on what they did two years ago). That was on Jan 21, though, so it could be as late as then. I do know some people have already been contacted by certain schools about honors programs, so I would imagine the schools already have the results. Kind of annoying that we don't get them first, as it would have helped us narrow our search if scores weren't as high as needed to get into certain more competitive schools (like GZ or Visitation). |
| Do you know what schools have already been contacting people? We haven’t heard anything. |
| SJC has contacted some applicants. |
| SJC contacts applicants who have high scores and invite them to apply to the scholars program. |
| re: St. John's. How competitive? Cast of dozens or does child have a good shot in getting in honors program if invited to apply? thanks very much |
admissions person told us that last year they had almost 200 apply for the honors program. I think they accepted 60ish. |
| My son applied to SJC. We have not seen his HSPT scores yet (took test 12/16 at SJC) but SJC and other schools have had them for at least two weeks based on letters we've gotten from the schools regarding how he did and honors programs. Interestingly, even though one letter went out before the final HSPT test date, the letter referenced how he tested by percentile nationally. |
