What do women wear to high school reunions?

14:26 here - Don't overdo the make up. The women who did that at my 30th looked older than those who didn't. In fact it was shocking - given that we are all the same age - how different people looked.

What a fun question -- and here's a shoutout to all the other DCUMs willing to admit we're in our late 40s. My advice would be that you want your look to be on the understated side. For example, at my 30th reunion (NJ public high school) at a country club (not a fancy one), I wore flattering black pants (slight boot cut), a cashmere sweater, and a great necklace, which was a gift from my husband. If you're concerned about hiding your curves, maybe wear black pants with a dressy tee (e.g., Michael Stars) with a long-loose cashmere sweater/wrap over it (not a cardigan, but I'm thinking of an Eileen Fisher type of thing). Arrange to meet up with your pals ahead of time, so you don't have to walk in alone, and have fun!

I second the black pants idea. Dark jeans are good too. I'd get some amazingly cute (and most likely painfully uncomfortable) heels to go with it!

OP here - thank you so much! I'm considering these dresses:

If I wear black pants & heels, what kind of top do you suggest? Looking at dept store websites, I feel a bit clueless.

Thanks!

OP, I couldn't see anything from the links. Anyone else?

The links work for me! First one blah, second one great, third one fantastic, fourth one too long which will age you.

I am the pp who talked about balancing looking frumpy vs trying too hard to look young. The dress I wore to my reunion was very similar to link number 3, and I got lots of compliments. That type of cut and pattern can hide some of the flab. And I second the recomendation fro Spanx of something similar.

Those look cute and totally appropriate for a reunion!

A friend who just attended her business school reunion bought kitten heels for the occasion -- sexy, but not too uncomfortable.

#1 -- might work with a great necklace, but make sure material is not cheesy
#2 -- too office-like
#3 -- like it -- but will the print work for you?
#4 - like it if not too long -- also need great jewelery

This reminded me of something funny. A college friend has her 20th high school reunion this coming spring and we were laughing because it has been scheduled on a beach?! Who the heck wants to show up for their 20th high school reunion in a bathing suit? Gotta laugh about that one...

I will be dressing in something hip and hot. Showing off all of my assets. Hey it's time to show off.

The only one I liked was #1. #2, print too large. #3 nothing special. #4 covers up the legs. if you have GREAT legs, show them off.

off topic but funny - At my 10 year (1994), one gal wore stirrups OVER her 4-inch heels.
