^^ Um, even if OP gives him the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't asking for a one night stand, it is extremely lazy dating behavior to suggest this as a second date.
Lame. Pathetic. Lazy. So, again, unless she's looking for a quickie (which probably will suck, given that we've established that he's lazy), OP needs to ignore the text and move on to the next prospect. |
Not OP, but the phrase is pretty established in the pop culture lexicon, and it means hook up. If he just wanted to hang out he could've said he wanted to hang out at her place and watch a movie/tv. |
|
Wait. Should I not say, "Kids let's just chill today." Serious question.
Chill used to mean relax. |
NP here. Used in the context of "Netflix and chill," it means have sex. Used in other contexts, it still means hang out and relax. No worries! And to blow your minds, "cake by the ocean" does not mean eat dessert waterside. lol |
So for those of us that don't know what "cake by the ocean" means, will you tell us? |
|
DH here. So, I've been married for 13 years, and I realize I'm not up to date on what these terms mean in a dating context. (I'm actually surprised so many of you seem so confident that you do know. Are you all recently married?)
That said, even if it's taken at a much more innocent face value, that he really does just want to watch a movie and relax, if nothing else it seems like he's getting a really casual, cheap date, and only on the second date, no less. It's the Christmas season, you're young, you should be getting dressed up and going out for a nice evening. Maybe I'm way too old-fashioned for my 36 years. |

maybe he's joking?
you can always go, make out and snuggle with him and then never call him again. I mean I get what it means but it's not like saying yes is consenting to anything. |
| booty-calling, plain and simple. |
| OP you should take him out on a date. You know spend some money on him. See how you are not interested in having sex with him. |
| Im old. I honestly thought it just meant to hang out and watch a movie. |
This. One coffee date and then skipping to hanging out and watching a movie at someone's place? No. Even if that is all he means (and I agree with the person that said the younger he is the more likely he meant sex), it would turn me off. |
Hey, she probably met the guy on Tinder, so he was at least half expecting sex after the coffee date, and he sees no need for any further delay in getting down to business with this Tinder slut. |
| It means sex. |
I’m sorry your husband left you for his affair partner. I’m sure the holidays are rough. |
|
Yes, it has a specific connotation (have sex). So perhaps he means it that way.
Or he's just joking (knowing what it means) and is flirting. Or he literally means watch a show and hang out. Some people don't know the popular connotation. If you like him, give him a chance and find out what it means to him. |
