If it runs, just sell it on Craigslist.

CarMax offered me $1000 for a 12 y.o. car in good condition with 75K miles on it. I sold it on Craigslist for more than 3X that amount in less than a week.

I am aware of that but I do not have the time or inclination to do it. Small kids, commute, WOH, holidays coming. No desire to transact with unknown strangers etc.

carmax give you pretty good offers.

Carmax offered me 10x the dealer offer. I am very happy and will be selling them the car.

I’ve sold two cars to them. Both offers were above blue book. It’s so easy to do. The ease factor plus a good price makes this option unmatched.

They always offer $100 more than kbb do just do the estimate online yourself.

The current situation defies KBB.

No it doesn’t. I sold a 16 year old car with 187,000 miles on it to Carmax. They quoted me $400, which was 100 over blue book. I know I could have worked and sold privately to get more but, not worth the time to me.

Carmax low balls bigly. I put our old cars on Craig's list and doubled the price they quoted me. Both were sold in the same day.

I have no idea how to sell a car. What paperwork is involved? The process is overwhelming to me.

. Just a bill of sale with all sorts of disclaimers to protect you, then sign over the title.
