My husband handled all the technical set-up, but although we have Verizon Fios for our internet service, I don't think you need the extra channels to use Roku. Roku has a lot of channels to select from, many of which offer free movies/TV shows with commercials.

I sometimes enjoy The Roku Channel. While it has a smaller selection of movies than Netflix, commercials, and a clunky interface, the offerings are more appealing to me than Amazon Prime or Netflix, and they switch out available programs.

Cut the cord- get Hulu live for 45/month. No contract.

Pluto tv is free!!! Has some movies and streams live too!
