My dad recently always has a blues music channel on DirecTV. For a while he got into zydeco stations on Pandora.

He was a teen in the 60s so he does love to sing along to anything from that era and tell me "I was in ______ when this song came out." It's really sweet.

Sometimes I introduce him to something a little more hip or indie that I know he'll love and he gets excited and calls his brothers to recommend it to them. Also really sweet.

It is lame. You need to develop more sophisticated taste.

+1. I love Adele, but "whatever is on the Top 40 station" is not better than David Bowie.

You don't know what you're talking about. 99% of the stuff on Top 40 radio is not breaking new ground at all. Bowie did.

Yes...try reading the comment again.

Mostly classic rock/R&B: The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Crosby Stills & Nash, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin...pretty much anyone who was at Woodstock or Monterey and then some.

I love their music, and mostly listen to it, groups from my formative teenage years in the 90s, or modern indie music that sounds like either of those.

My father was partial to blue grass and classical. He also liked folk and some rock.

I like almost everything, but I listen to audio books more often than music.
