Where do you store onions and potatoes?

i have a basket for each in the pantry

Bottom drawer of the fridge, on a setting not so cold that they freeze. I only buy two or so large onions at a time (more if needed) so I don't need an onion basket. We cook potatoes semi-regularly, but I'm afraid if I had them in a cabinet or basket they'd rot and I'd be cleaning black potato sludge far too often.

onions are chopped within a day of buying and stored in the freezer

I also chop my onions soon after buying, spread them on a baking tray in the freezer (they freeze really fast) and then put into large ziplocs to use as needed.

I think it is too humid here, hence everything rots fast. I keep onions and potatoes separate, I heard somewhere that having onions close to potatoes will make them rot faster, and that has been true in my house. Now I keep potatoes in a large paper bag in one pantry, never leave them in plastic and onions in another pantry cabinet.
