| I just went to Idlewild for $12 a ticket. My one year old really enjoyed it, but it was pretty dirty and gross. |
| I wouldn't buy tickets unless you are sure since these are not transferable. You would lose your money. |
Actually no, don't go with young kids. Kennywood needs 46" for rides. Check the ticket. |
Why would anyone in their right mind go to Pittsburgh on vacation. Why would anyone go to Kennywood or Idlewild. OP, surely you can do better for a fun vacation even if looking for driving distance locations. |
huh? Pittsburgh is a really awesome city with lots to do. Sorry you're such a snob. |
p There’s is an entire kids section at Kennywood, in addition to things like shows, train, carousel, etc. for those shorter than 46”. Surprised at how much weirdness this thread has generated - who knew everyone had an opinion on the merits of Idlewild and Kennywood? |
I know, right! Here's mine: Idlewild is GREAT for little kids. My almost 5 and almost 3 year old love, love , love it. I don't mind taking them because the location is beautiful and it's really shady. Yes, there are lots of rural-type people who go there so it's not a super sophisticated place. Older kids will be bored out of their minds there, from about age 12 on up, though there is a water area that is pretty decent for them. Not worth the money though for older kids. Kennywood is great for all ages. In the area is also Sandcastle, a water park, which my then young teens really enjoyed. |
| Kind of random, but I just got an email from Idlewild about $19 tickets in my email right now. |
You are wrong. You need to be 36" for one of their major roller coasters - the Jack Rabbit. Kennywood is an old park. It will be celebrating its 120th season next year. They have 3 old (think 1920's/1930's) roller coasters. Those coasters are awesome and nothing like modern roller coasters (which Kennywood does also have). When my kids were younger (like 4), I took them on the Jack Rabbit. Completely fine. Get tickets from Giant Eagle or their Black Friday sale like someone else mentioned. |

NP. Can someone help me understand the verbiage here. Does this mean that guests under 46" don't need tickets, are essentially free? Since this is the only single day single person ticket they seem to be selling.
Also someone mentioned these tickets are not transferable. True? https://pe-kw.secure.accesso.com/packageDetails/166245/navItem/Black%20Friday%20Tickets?keyword=BlackFridaySP&_cid=2029322730.1509847347&_ga=2.36707808.1152997929.1510033110-2029322730.1509847347 |
