This is why women make bad leaders. Move on!

Hard to say from your post, OP. Is he specifically particularly friendly with them? Or are there office social events where they are; so he is there too and not unfriendly. I don't think he's required to feud with them or refuse to go to office social events because they happen to be there. I don't think he's even required to be unfriendly. He still works there after all. And if he can't get along with people overall, he's going to have to find a new job.

But . . . he probably is required to dislike a group of people who attacked you (regardless of their gender). Doesn't mean he should be a dick to them in social settings; it does mean he probably shouldn't be planning special outings with them and acting like besties. what's up?

They’re not office events, it’s several coworkers getting together for lunch/happy hour. He’s the only guy in the office they invite.

Your husband is a self sentered prick!

I hope you do not have children with him. If not, divorce. Not a joke. He's shown who he is. If you do have kids, start strategizing.

Could they be trying to seduce him?

Why were they after you?

I'd be upset. My husband would have my back and actually if he knew these women actively wanted to get me fired, he'd NEVER be friendly enough then to go out with them.

This is a weird situation. Are you sure he wasn't sleeping with any of women?

To this day, I have no idea what the reason was.
