Do you expect spouse to come to your defense if someone calls you a name in their presence?

Team DH. OP you were being a bitch and deserve no defending.

In your circumstance, I would not expect my DH to do anything. Your BIL called a spade a spade. You were being a bitch.

Is your husband Clark Griswold?

I would expect DH to come to my defense but I also don't start sh*t. If I were a rude, provoking person like OP, getting called a name would just come with the territory and I'd have to put up with it.

+1

But there is no taking the OP’s side here. How do you possibly defend such disgusting behavior?

I'm not defending her behavior. She asked a question about does she expect her DH to stand by her. I say yes. Who knows, maybe this is a blip. S or B of BIL should have told him he smelled, that's true. But I'd STILL want my DH to be on my side.

We have a left coast dirty hippy BIL that doesn't like to bathe. He smells like a greasy sweaty rotten potato. My sister tells him to bathe. I tell him he can't be on my couch smelling like that. He laughs and goes shower. I don't think he'd ever call me a bitch but if he did my husband would probably knock the crap out of him.

I would demand satisfaction!

Lovely family!

You were wrong. Why would he defend you?

OP, you ARE a bitch. You should be so embarrassed and ashamed of what you did: how do you know your BIL doesn't have a medical issue?

I have a friend who has an embarrassing medical condition that requires her to "sponge bathe" sometimes to avoid getting the treated area wet. She worries so much about smelling, etc.

You are a terrible person. If you suggested to my friend in my presence that she bathe, I would call you a bitch. And I would say some other choice things to you (and about you) out of my friend's presence.

Bitch.

OPs husband:

"Please, people, I think we can all agree to a compromise; yes, Joe stinks like a bucket of fish rotting in the sun, and yes, my wife is an unpleasant obnoxious bitch. Now let's get back to the Rummikub!"

(You could smell him five minutes after he had left a room) I finally came right out and asked him to bathe. He called me a real B---. My husband was siting right next to me and said nothing, didn't even respond. I left and went home but I'm really angry and wondering whether to confront husband.

Your husband was mortified that you ARE a real bitch. That poor man, your DH and bil

Someone calls my wife (and the mother of my children) a bitch and I'll deck them, no questions asked. It's just who I am. My problem is that DW finds this finds this to be an awful characteristic (it's almost happened twice, albeit with strangers)...

Your husband is a beta cuck. I don’t care what anyone says - you don’t insult someone’s wife. Your his spouse and you come first. He should have stood up for you and told your BIL he needs to apologize. Where I’m from you get punched in the mouth for insulting antother guy’s wife - bit where I come from people have manners and don’t do that.
