Accidentally passed a school bus

I did that too, in MD, until I realized it was illegal.
Never got cited or fined, since police wasn't there.

If we really cared about children, people like the OP would lose their licenses, and won't be driving anymore.

OP is no different than a school shooter. Quit coddling her.

Oh my God, get a f***ing grip, psycho.

Dude, you made a mistake. It's fine. Obviously you shouldn't have done it, but no one got hurt. Now you know better, and you'll be paranoid about buses for the rest of your life (or at least several years).

Don't beat yourself up about it. Guilt and worry doesn't make anyone safer.

Our buses start to flash yellow warning lights and then ... Whip out thecstopnsign byou never know when it's coming out.

I actually don't understand why both sides of the street need to stop. Our bus stops on both sides of the street, so no kids would ever have to cross the street. I don't get why you can't just go around it like a city bus.

Because in some places, kids cross at the bus. I you are either a troll or a bad driver

Contrary to popular belief, those flashing yellow warning lights do NOT mean, "hurry up and pass me so you don't have to stop." I think they are intended to tell you to slow down and be prepared to stop.

One day I was driving on a neighborhood street turning onto a main road. There was a guy at the stop sign...just sitting there. No signal, not moving...nothing. So I went around him. Just as I started to pull out, a kid was running across the main street to the car. Why the jerk was too lazy to get out of his car and help the kid cross...or pull over on the other side of the street to pick up his kid. Instead he told his kid it was ok to cross while sitting in his car. Then he screamed at me like I was in the wrong.

That would be many a clueless dad, including my BIL. Hopefully he got a wake-up call that day. And hopefully you did too, and have learned to be wary of idiots "just sitting there".

OP, were you talking on the phone or texting?

NotOP, but even talk radio can be distracting during my AM commute. I just do music after I almost passed a school bus that had just stopped.

You were in the wrong. You pulled around a car at a stop sign? And then nearly ran down a pedestrian?

I have done this 2-3 times in the last year. I did it two days ago in the afternoon. My DD rides that same bus in the morning. I feel totally awful that I have done this. The truth is that I am rarely driving the time that school buses operate or in an area in which they operate. When driving on the other side of the street I am just not looking out for it. Now I think I might finally be there. I lived in the city for 10 plus years and only now that I pick up my DD at school and am off early on occlusion am I ever driving during those bus hours. I am not a bad driver - always looking out for pedestrians and never in an accident. Sometimes you have to just thank your lucky stars that nothing happened.

Sorry...not wrong. The guy was not stopped at the stop sign. He was pulled over next to the stop sign. Illegally parked, so to speak.

Now you are changing the facts that you stated earlier. I don't care how you phrase it, if you pull out from a stop sign and run over a kid crossing the street, it's nobody's fault but your own.
