| I know, right?! |
No. It's a flat affect. |
| Why on earth does this bother you? Don't you have better things to do than criticize how other people choose to speak? I am sure you have annoying speech mannerisms, too! Who are you to judge others? Goodness! (Right?) |
|
Its a sign of weakness in conviction and thought. Just like 'you know'
People who are confident don't need to soften their speech |
Seriously. I'm a millennial and my parents considered themselves yuppies. |
look it is better than check-it |
| yuppies? you mean post hipsters? |
And they (like many others) are not young anymore and have plateaued salary-wise. |
|
My 4 year old does it ! I am
40 years older than him and just noticed how he ends every sentence with a right . So funny ! My 8 year old doesn't do it at all |
|
I like "right" better than the "okay?" that follows most parental speak, whether or not they are asking their kids an actual question.
I'm not gonna lie, though. the absolute worst is "I'm not gonna lie." I had lunch with a millennial who preceded about sixty percent (not exaggerating) of her sentences with "I'm not gonna lie." Where is that one from? Is she a former pathological liar trying to convince me that she's reformed? So distracting! |
|
the YUP in yuppy is for young urban professionals, who can be hipsters too. |
Elon musk and zuckerberg do it too. I don't think it's weakness. |
Is this a square rhombus analogy. Not all yuppies are hipsters. Not all hipsters are young and many not upwardly mobile. |
Eh hipsters really have to be young. |
