Reusing inherited stone

Anonymous
Similar situation-I used the stone, had it reset in a totally different type of setting (orig was yellow gold- now white gold, before had round stones on side, now square cuts and I got the interlock to match the new setting. (Interlock is 2 bands that surround the engagement ring, but the bands are connected & the engagement ring fits in between)No one even realized it was the same center, so I never brought it up. I'm happy, he's happy & I got a better setting & the interlock because he didn't have to buy another center. And we designed the ring together, so it was a win-win

That sounds lovely. I would reset it as a necklace myself.

Plus, this may sound a bit silly, but coming from someone who's a bit superstitious -- if this marriage goes well then I feel like it can be passed down again, whereas I think people would be less likely to want an heirloom ring/stone that was last used in a marriage that ended in divorce. This new marriage will cleanse the taint of the last one from the ring.

NP that's a great point. My SD's mother told her she hopes SD will wear her wedding dress and SD is like "no way. It's a divorce dress"
