Nicole Kidman at Emmy's

I grew up with a SAHM and I really wish I hadn't. She left a high flying job to do it and seemed so bored, all the time. I think it gave me a very poor idea of what womanhood meant- suffering and ennui.

Maybe your Mother resented you.

I think this line in her acceptance speech is worse:

"I have two little girls, Sunday and Faith, and my darling Keith," Kidman said in her speech. "This is yours. I want my little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, 'Every time my mommy didn't put me to bed, it's because of this. I got something!'"

Yes, Nicole, I'm sure Sunday and Faith are so, so proud of you and would rather have that tacky statue to look at, as opposed to their mom to actually talk to, any day.

She is alienated (not her choice) from her older kids because she left a cult. They have been brainwashed to hate her. These Scientologists are so deep into the cult, you can't get through to them. What is Nicole Kidman supposed to do? I can't imagine the pain she must feel over that loss.

Katie was smart. Her dad is a divorce lawyer and apparently drew up an iron clad pre-nup. Its why her divorce took like 2 weeks to finalize. She also got out before Cruise wanted to send her kid to sea-org.

I agree 10000%. I think she just came across very narcissistic. Like her kids care about her award, really.

I think most kids would MUCH rather have a schedule where parents work only 3 months straight and then have close to a year off or longer if they choose. Its crazy I am sure but totally doable to have MORE time with kids this way in many respects

Any list of best moments or speeches name her speech as one of the 5 best. Every best dressed list names her. Not one article or news outlet has mentioned her adult children. But keep on hating someone and talk about things you don't know.

My mother used to go bowling and leave me a note to please do her math homework (she went back to school when I was in 8th grade). She put all those trophies in my room. They were ours.

This gave me goosebumps! Love it.

What about the fact that she kissed Alexander Skarsgard on the lips? I mean, I would totally have done it too, even if my DH was right there!

I did think she was phenomenal in BLL and the series was just incredibly well done. But I think she was treated so royally shittily by Cruise and Scientology that I can't help but root for her. I love the fact that she found true happiness later in life, had 2 more children she could raise with a loving husband. That she's found (continued?) success in her career is just icing on the cake.

I HATE that this was news. First off, Americans are so damn uptight. Every other country kisses. Get over it.

Second, and most importantly, is that it's incredibly sexist. If a man were to kiss his woman co star, no one would care.

I hate that this news. The headlines should read "beautiful nicole Kidman wins award for incredible performance"

Ok. I was commenting mostly on how hot he is....Also I am not uptight and don't think anything was wrong with it, just that I wish it was me...As he is so, so well, everything...I am European too and do maintain that Americans are prude like nothing I ever saw before.

Another European who would have gotten her snog on with Alexander.

I know you were, I was just taking the opportunity to vent.

I saw that too! I was wondering if maybe he's gay? I love Keith Urban, but I really love Nicole. I'll always have respect for her for the way she pulled herself together after Tom Cruise dumped her. As I recall it, she was stunned and it came out of nowhere. I got the impression she had no plans to leave him and her kids, but he forced the issue. I just can't like him anymore after first that and then Katie. I hate he's so brainwashed into the Scientology cult.

why was nicole kidman not able to have biological children with Tom Cruise, but she did with Keith Urban? Does anyone know? I'm just curious!

Yeah. My mom gave up a career to be a SAHM and I think it would have been better for her in so many ways if she had continued to work. It's really sad that women feel this pressure to constantly be around their kids, when it's not necessary. They REALLY do fine with other caretakers or not having mom doting over them 24/7.
