Prestige does not equal pay.
Ask any Nobel Prize winner. |
Most people on Jobs and Careers couldn't name a NP winner; they're too busy worshiping billionaires. |
Not Pp but I see no data proving this is accurate in that article...just a statement by someone who has a vested interest in making such a claim. Got anything else? Because this seems like fakenews. |
|
Prestige is being at the top of your field. And even more so if it's a difficult to master, lots of education/experience required, lucrative and commercial field.
And I say this as someone with a Phd in esoteric Buddhism who does market research for Japanese companies. No I'm not the best...just was too practical for academia after age 27... |
NP. I'm from Sweden (Finland's neighbor). Pasi Sahlberg is one of the leading authorities in the ins and outs of the Finnish educational system. Your ignorance of this or of the broader context in which teaching is seen as an exalted profession in Finland speaks for itself. |
Clap clap clap! |
True. Some of them even voted for Trump, who thinks prestige is measured in square footage of gold leaf in one's apartments. |
lmao |
No-one really cares. At the end of the day it’s still just his opinion (a biased one at that, by your own admittance). No matter how much you worship him... |
I love how the PP says "NP. I'm from Sweden (Finland's neighbor). “ as if it makes them more qualified...or is relevant in some way. You could be from Zimbabwe (not Finland’s neighbor) and the following sentence wouldn’t have changed in the slightest. |
Not the Swedish PP, but I feel compelled to defend my European neighbor. It does make a difference. PP knew who he was, and you didn't. European countries close to one another have a common history and are familiar with each other's culture. Her (or his) input was valuable. I love how Swedish PP felt obligated to add that Sweden and Finland share a border. Sometimes it's hard for us Europeans to plumb the depth of American ignorance, although I grant you that a few on DCUM are well educated. Maybe all the foreigners Joke, joke...

Don't laugh too hard it was 100% grant covered at Columbia!! Sugio! and lots of anthro ppl end up in Fortune 500 marketing... |
And I bet they think the peace prize is not a political tool either. |
Swedish male PP here - thank you; you understood where I was coming from. And yes, I noted where the countries were because I've learned from experience that most people in the US have...well, trouble finding either country on a map. |
