You should try the PlayStation Vue. The search function is EXACTLY like cable - so easy - with an online guide. See if the PS Vue app is on the Firestick. I think it is.

I've tried PSVue, Sling TV, and DirectTVNow.

DirectTVNow is, by far, the best! The interface is good, the offered channels are exceptional, the price is fantastic, and it's not as glitchy as the others.

+1 We also have Amazon Prime anyway for the shipping. It has some great content for kids that Netflix and Hulu don't have. We're actually thinking of dropping Hulu.

How do you watch football and baseball live?

Baseball and football on regular network tv can be watched using an antenna. You can also get a subscription to mlb.com to watch baseball. What I can't figure out how to do is get EPL football games on NBC Sports Channel -- matches on regular network NBC I know I can pick up with an antenna, but it is those elusive games on the sports channel that mean cable is going to be a regular expense for us. Sigh.

You can get an antenna, but DirectTVNow has local channels. It really is the best live tv streaming app I've tried.

We have a Roku stick and subscribe to Hulu, Netflix and DirectTVNow. My only gripe is that PBS does not live stream on any platform I know of. But those three cover all our bases and no more rental fees and I pay less than half of what I was paying for cable. And my kids (teenagers) can watch movies/shows on Netflix and Hulu through Xbox Live in the playroom.

Question - why do you subscribe to Hulu and DirectTVNow? I'm no the OP but i am also ready to cut the cord and researching my options. There is so much to figure out and this thread has been very helpful.

DirectTVNow gives you live TV. Hulu doesn't. (Hulu Live TV--not Hulu--would be comparable to DirectTVNow.)
