Me too. I'd like to remind people that "liberals" and "the left" aren't monoliths. While we have similar beliefs, we have different means to those ends.

I'm in favor of taking statues down and putting them in a museum or other educational facility. I am not pro-vandalism.

Serious question: what museum would want those statues? Wouldn't they be vandalized too? I don't like Christopher Columbus but, I also don't agree with vandalism.

Oh ok.

You consider vandalism 'an entirely appropriate manner'? I hope that applies for everything. If someone doesn't like the color of your car, can they vandalize it?

+ 1 Apparently, liberals think it is totally appropriate to destroy property they don't like.

This is laughable. Vandalism is not okay but stealing, rape and genocide is?

Margaret Sanger statues need to come down. She was one of the most prominent racists in this country and founded planned parenthood to control the population of black people. Her racisim and role in the eugenics movement should be cause enough for her not to be honored.

Are we like Isis and the taliban. Destroying whatever history or artifacts we do not approve of from day to day?

The statues should stay up with a BIG display noting the issues and histories of these historical figures in our nation's history.

Let's start with Margaret Sanger.

Planned Parenthood did not provide abortions when she was alive.

How is she pro-abortion?

She provided birth control and sex education.

so you think the Bill Cosby mural should have stayed up instead of replacing it with something else?

PP. The idea is to place these statues in an educational-historical capacity with context, rather than a place of veneration. I imagine a place like the Smithsonian would be appropriate.

It's believed to be the first monument in the country to honor Columbus. It was put up in 1792.

That might make some museum interested in it. History and what not.

Maybe make a museum called history of genocide in the US.

Did you know there wasn't a US when Columbus landed in the "new world?" Did you know he did not found the US?

I don't think it's right to vandalize but I agree that we shouldn't have monuments to genocidal maniacs, or a holiday in their honor...
