$0. If the credit card slip has a tip line, $1. Same at chipotle, etc.

15-20% if it's a locally owned business

Why no one mentioned that the owner of restaurant should pay their hard-working employee better, instead of asking customers to pay tip. We should all forget such "American culture", in this case, a way of owners make tons of money and leave the waiters and waistrisess the lowest salary in the country. How come the liberals never complaint about it?

Look Japan or many European countries, there is no tip and people still make decent life and show/get respect in restaurant.

0, don't be stupid. the owners lie and lure you in with their posted prices. fuck em , they should stop lying and pay their employees properly.

Uh, I don't know what Europe you visit, but the service is typically shitty.

I never tip at places where I'm not waited on. I'm shocked that some people do. What exactly are you tipping for? I am annoyed by those tip lines on credit card slips when I'm ordering at a counter -- umm, no thanks, I'll pay the stated price on the menu.

It's amazing what people can get just by asking...

This.

I tip zero because there's really no whatnot. They take the order and drop off the food. If I get my own beverage, extra napkins, etc., then clean up the table when I'm done, I don't leave a tip.
