Lol. I'm with you! I did Amazon and Target. I have better ways of spending my time. |
Giant also was pretty good. |
Aldi - I found a sale where each pouch was less than $.50! Though agree with PP, they all seem apple based and have a lot of natural sugars, so I try to limit these and mix them with Greek yogurt or oatmeal.
For meat pouches, I've found good ones at Walmart. But with pouches still running me $1-2 a pouch most of the time, I make a lot of my baby food... We are always making rice, so I throw some cooked rice in a pan with some water and minced vegetables for jook and freeze. Or I'll chop a bunch of apples and pears and boil and freeze. Easiest is mashed up banana or avocado mixed with water... no cooking! Another good one is unsulphured prunes with boiling water poured over and then puréed and frozen... a TBS now and then helps ward off constipation. I know OP you said you don't want to make them (no judgment here!), but just in case buying turns out to be more expensive than you thought or in case others happen to be looking for ideas. ![]() |
Do they sell baby food at Costco? Anyone know?
Though I checked out diaper prices recently and I think they still don't beat Target. |
Why don't you Google or look around. No need to be a bitch |
Walmart. Gerber brand tends to be cheapest, and they have lots of veggie-only options |
+1 I didn't make baby food for my first, but did for my second because we were on a tight budget. I seriously couldn't believe how easy it was and felt like kicking myself in the @ss for not doing it the first time around. I froze it in ice cube trays and then put each kind into a Ziploc freezer bag. It was really nice because I could make a lot or a little depending upon how many cubes I warmed up, and I could also mix different veggies together, and I also did some chicken ones that I could add to the veggie ones. |
They don't sell baby food, but BJ's Wholesale does. Best place to buy is either Target or Walmart. |
For people who made meat cubes, how did you do it? Ive done a lot of grain and fruit ones, but never meat. |
The meat is pretty gross, TBH. Cook the meat however you would otherwise (boil, though blech, bake, pan fry, grill), then dice it up small and put it in the food processor with some water or broth. |
OP wasn't being a bitch, she was just responding to the fact that multiple of the earlier poster was like "make it!" Despite the fact that she was like "I don't want to make it!"
Anyway, Amazon S&S is definitely cheapest. For a bit more, but also more variety... Whole Foods on H street has basically a different pouch on sale every week and we've gotten good deals on Plum colors pouches ($1.25/ea) and Happy Baby Clearly crafted ($1.50/ea). |
Yeah, the title of OP's post is cheapest place to get organic baby food, but her budget isn't that tight where she actually NEEDS to budget, she just wants us to do her research instead of comparison shopping like the rest of us do. So we can help her save 20 cents a jar/pouch, and DAMMIT JUST TELL ME ALREADY. Heaven forbid we respond generally so others reading this thread can get alternate suggestions. OP, I've bought baby food from everywhere listed on this thread. The cheapest place to buy jars and pouches individually is Walmart. If you're too good for Walmart, then keep an eye out at your preferred grocery store for sales. For everyone else, the cheapest way is to make it yourself, then Walmart, then other grocery store sales. If you don't mind buying in bulk, Amazon and other online retailers have good deals. |
