How old were your parents when they had you?

My mom was 24 and my dad 31.

Frankly, I can't imagine having a kid at 24, and in my mom's case, it made her both resentful of not getting to do everything she wanted and at the same too often treated me as her little confidant

My mom was almost 32, my dad was 32. I was born in the early 80s, oldest of 3.

When my first was born, I was almost the exact same age as my mom was (off by about a month) when I was born.

22. Both were a year out of college. Shotgun wedding.

Mom 27, Dad 33.

I was born in 1969 and my mom's family thought she was "old" when she didn't have her first until she was 25. Neither of them went to college and most of mom's peers had a baby by 20.

I was born between my parents birthdays - my mom had just turned 25 and my dad was about to turn 26.

I'm 31 and now understand why I'm so screwed up. 25 is so young!

DH parents were (barely) 20 and 22. DH born four months after his dad graduated college. Another shotgun wedding. 1968. Still married and have one of the most stable relationships.

I am surprised to see people referring to being screwed up because their parents were 25 when they were born, or that their moms were resentful because they were 24.

I had my first at 26 - unplanned at that - but we made the best of it and life is good. 30+ years ago those ages were not young. I think maybe you are projecting or making excuses.

I'm going to my cousin's daughter's wedding soon. She just graduated in May from college- my cousin is 45, so he was also 23 when she was born. His mom was also 22 when he was born (they are each the oldest on that side) and my grandparents are still alive in their late 80s. So its crazy but conceivable that there will be 5 generations on my dad's side within a year or 2. They are all really sweet, but man its wild to me!

35/36 in the late 1960's. Mom had a second trimester m/c early in their marriage, and apparently they dealt with infertility after that. An adoption was in the works when I showed up.

Late childbearing runs in the family though. Fun fact - three of my 4yo dd's great-grandparents were born in the 1880's.
