Anybody have insight into implantation bleeding? Going out of my mind...

Wow, this is awesome to hear! Thank you for posting!

And you bring up a good point...maybe there can be bleeding but it isn't always "implantation bleeding"...maybe its just spotting or some bleeding.

New poster - I had implantation bleeding and was pregnant. I was totally skeptical how someone could not know they were pregnant due to implantation bleeding, but now I get it.

At 5-6 weeks after LMP, I took off my underwear for a shower and there was bright red blood, which continued at a trickle the rest of the day (while I went to the ER in panic: I had had a miscarriage before). It turned brown and went away after a while.

So, this was later post-ovulation than you describe. But it does look like period blood when it happens.

OP here. I am flummoxed completely, but to the poster wondering about implantation bleeding, I had it with TWO pregnancies, just nothing bright red!

I don't even know what to say when I call the dr....

I am thinking I may wait and see....

I feel like I hear so much about the topic but I've never actually heard of anyone really ending up pregnant after experiencing it...None of my friends who go pregnant on their own ever experienced implantation blleeding and those that did some sort of ART never experienced it either. I want so badly to believe it really is common and it exists but sometimes I feel like we all want to be parents so badly that we end up stressing over every symptom and thinking any bleeding must be implantation bleeding (haha, I know I do!)

So if you have implantation bleeding success stories, please share them and prove me wrong! Thank you!

You know, I did. I have been pregnant multiple times with no bleeding, and the one pregnancy that stuck, I spotted. On the DAY my period was due! My husband, dad and I were in the theatre watching the Da Vinci Code, when I went to use that bathroom, and when I wiped, there was brown blood. Went back inside to watch the movie, leaned over to my husband, and said, "this one's a bust too". Kept spotting all week, for 7 days, expecting to m/c, but had good betas all week. Then it stopped. It was scary! I had some serious cramps too. Then I had my son. from a pregnancy I wrote off TWICE. Also had a bad nuchal fold .

Forgot to add that implantation bleeding doesn't always happen before day 14, or however long your luteal phase. Dr. McLaren, who really knows his shit, told me that it can happen after your period is due. That little embryo has to dig it's way into your uterus, and it doesn't happen overnight

I had implantation bleeding, it started 3 days before I was due and was sure I was not pregnant, I was stunned when I was. I spotted thru the 1st trimetser but had a healthy baby. Then the 2nd time I also spotted a lot, I had a hematoma on my placenta, and miscarried at 11 weeks. Now we are trying again, i was due yesterday and am waiting to take the test. I started spotting brown last Wed, just a dab like nothing when I wiped, and then again Fri or Sat, and then yesteday a little more and it was red but not anything I'd use a liner or tampon for. Then today, one day late, there is nothing. Zilch. But I can't be pregnant really, can I, after I saw red? I don't want to take another negative test and be disappointed.

To respond to the 10:58 poster, I've been pregnant a few times before (but ultimately miscarried) and had implantation bleeding. It was very minor; like a pantyliner or two to stay fresh. Otherwise, I never had any spotting prior to a period, so for me, it was a pretty sure sign of pregnancy. Everyone is different, of course.

OP here. Went to the dr for preg test. Literally leaving, my period comes gushing out. Goddamit. What a waste of time and money. Period, seven days early. My life is guided by the Murphy's Law theory.

Mine is too it seems! Was 4 days late last week (and overjoyed that I was) and then whammo! AF arrives just as I was heading out the door to purchase a hpt. Guess we can stand under the black cloud together. But don't give up...this WILL happen for us.

I had bright red spotting 7 days after an IUI, I assumed I wasn't pregnant and I even stopped the prog supp and went on a business trip and did not return to the RE until a week after the scheduled beta. It was my 4th attempt and I really felt like I knew my body and there was no way I was pregnant, but my beta was off the charts and my RE just shook his head and said "why don't patients ever listen to me?"

I agree with PPs who have suggested speaking with your doctor. I had all sorts of weird bleeding over multiple cycles, including the brown blood post-ovulation (that would sometimes come and go, sometimes be bright red -basically, it became difficult to tell when one cycle started and another ended).
Turned out I had endometriomas on my ovaries. Hopefully, this is just a fluke for OP, but on the off-chance it's not, I woul definitely consult with a GYN.

I have a question about the spotting and endometriosis. For over a year, I have been spotting approximately 5-7 days after ovulation -- up until I get my period. My OBGYN and RE think it's likely from progesterone levels dropping, and I did try taking Prometrium to see if that would help. It delayed the spotting, but didn't eliminate it. For anyone who has had endometriosis, did you always have pain? I haven't had any pain, and my HSG appeared normal. So, the RE has been dismissive of Endometriosis. But, it really concerns me that I spot every month and that we haven't been able to conceive yet! We did our first IUI this month and I'm pretty sure AF is here. I am just curious to know if anyone else has had recurring spotting, and if they've had any success in conceiving. I'm 38, never been pregnant.

Thanks

Me...
I had IVF. I had a bright red bleed on what would have been the equivalent of 13dpo (8dp5dt). I thought I was out, and that this was my period, the flow was THAT heavy.
Luckily, my RE performs LP hormone testing on 4 days post transfer and 8 days post transfer, so when I called the emergency nurse on call, and asked if I should discontinue my meds, she told me absolutely NOT, because my hormones that AM definitely indicated that this could NOT POSSIBLY be my period. A week later I had a very positive beta and learned later that I was initially pg with triplets (lost one naturally, and gave birth to twins).

I also had significant bleeding later on in the pg...probably associated with cervical blood.

Actually, for many women with Stage III and Stage IV endo, there is no pain or the pain is not that gut wrenching pain other endo-sufferers describe. For me (Stage IV endo), I only had very severe pain once or twice. I did have some other discomfort that came on so gradually over time that I didn't notice how bad it was until after I had surgery and I was all cleaned out. If an OB/GYN were saying no, it's not endo, I would be inclined to seek an RE's opinion. Seeing as you are under the care of an RE, hopefully he/she is more in tune and isn't seeing any markers that are raising an alarm.

My one follow up question would be have you had a CA-125 blood test? Often, if endo is widespread but not showing up on ultrasounds, etc., the blood test will be elevated (indicating some type of inflammation).

No, I haven't, but I definitely will. THANK YOU!
