Pull-Ups for DS going to sleep away camp?

Anonymous
We just sent my 7.5 year old to camp with pull-ups. She is neurotypical but has urinary relfux and bladder issues that cause her to be incontinent at night about 1/2 of the time (she's followed by urology and will have surgery in the fall).
She's really independent and good about putting on a pull-up at night without others seeing (although honestly she really doesn't care---she's about the most self assured person I know).
She 100% does not smell and does not leak through to the bed. Plus at camp she is showering daily and swimming (lake and pool).

I think the only issue for you is if he will remember to put on the pull-up.

Op here. I have to say I'm kind of shocked by the tone of some of these posts. Very not the special needs site.

As I wrote in my original post, DS is totally on board with wearing the pull-up. We got the Goodnights Trufit, where they are underwear with an insert inside. We are going to test them a few nights to make sure they work. DS is very good about peeing twice before he goes to bed, but it's the period while he is sleeping that's the issue. We have tried setting an alarm - even two alarms - for him, but he is a really heavy sleeper and sleeps through both the alarms and the overnight peeing. DS is pretty meticulous about his personal care and also a good self advocate so I am sure he will get the help of counselors if the pull-ups do leak. I'm not worried about him being ostracized- he also has really internalized (thank God) that this isn't his fault and nothing to be ashamed of, so I think he could get counselors to help him address things if anyone starts to make fun of him. We did talk about how he would carry the inserts to the bathroom and where he would dispose of them - thanks to the pp who suggested the ziplocks. I'll pack a box of them for him.

how many days his he staying? The problem we had with the Truefit is we have to do laundry every other day. If his going with the insert do you think it will be a better idea to set up the insert
before he leaves for camp? if he stays
more then 2 nights then he can do it, but don't have to worry for the first 2 nights. Since they are real underwear no one will think he has something inside. (only if another kid wears them or siblings wears them) He won't have to worry about any blue wrapper or anything like that? just dispose the insert in the am?
