PP here who got a pedicure with my toddler and baby today. So not a big deal - I went at 11:30 and it was a total non-issue. I don't understand other PPs up in arms about this. |
This. |
I disagree with some of the others here -- if your kid is well behaved, I don't see the problem.
Maybe bring a toy or an ipad? Or go during a time when it's not too busy? I used to bring my kid with me, and let her have a little "kid" mani or pedi. Quite honestly, she was perfect and she loved it, too. |
Not at 14 months though. That's not old enough to understand what's going on or sit still long enough for a kids pedi. OP, if your kid can zone out with the iPad, then sure. Mine couldn't, and was crazy active at 14 months, so that was a no-go for me. |
+1 You can go during nap time if you're really worried about whether or not the sitter can handle your DC. |
A 14-month-old is different than a 6-month-old or a 3-year-old. At that age, they are much more mobile/active than a 6-month-old infant &, unlike most 3-year-olds, are unlikely to just sit & watch videos on an iPad or phone. |
I truly do not understand why it wouldn't occur to you to get a babysitter for two hours if you really wanted to get a mani/pedi. |
I have pedis only twice a year myself when we have family visiting and they watch DC.
I do most of my shopping when DC is napping in big jogging stroller. DC does not like running errands, shopping of any kind or when I have to go to the doctors. DC will be in daycare from 9-12 starting September and I can get my things done during that time. I have also been wondering how hard would it be to find parents who would like to have a few hours to run errands or what have you while I watch their child and be that babysitter. I have a part time job, but working at nights has its downside. |
Rude. |
I agree with others that it is really rude to the other customers in the salon that are probably trying to relax.
I hope those of you who bring your kids and an ipad have the ipad on silent/headphones on your kid. |
+1. Don't bring your 14mo |
So rude to the other patrons. Get a sitter. |
Your husband can leave work early so that you can go out and get one done. If you are a sahm, get a sitter or friend for during naptime and get one done. Do your nails yourself at home. A lot of options... bringing a child with me would not be an option at all. |
Go to the salon/spa inside any Lifetime fitness gym. You can use the gym childcare while you have your appointment. |
Those are easier ages than a 14 month old! |
