Super mom addiction- Me: How do I get off this roller coaster!

Anonymous
Serious question, what does overspending and oversheduling of activities have to do with being ADD? Is this common? I am ADD and my kid is only doing one or two activities at a time. I do love a bargain hunt but I am pretty frugal in general. My ADD just causes me to have an embarrassingly messy house!

There are many different symptoms in the ADHD galaxy, but I suppose OP has a hard time with impulse control surrounding what she loves, which seems to be finding things for her kids. I get hyperfocused when I'm excited about certain topics, and have difficulty letting that go to do chores and go on with the rest of my life.

Op here, thanks to those who understand.

I get caught up in a lot of anxiety: comparing my son to other kids, focused on my own perfectionism and control... I don't have an answer. I have been listening to Kirk Martin and thinking about self-control, how a lot of my behaviors are about me and my fears, and thinking about how to substitute a new line in my head. I don't have an answer Peres, just telling you that you're not alone, and encouraging you to keep thinking about how to separate what your kids need from your own insecurities.

You're not a super mom, just materialistic. and you are spoiling your kids. Lots of moms like that in our town.

Quit shopping and volunteer to be the kid's girl scout leader or soccer coach. Set up volunteering activities. Go and hike on a nature trail with your kids.

Spend time with your kids, instead of showing them only money buys happiness.
