If you could plan a vacation to anywhere in the world...

Four Seasons in Punta Mita (sp) Mexico or Costa Rica. For real close luxury and relaxation but with some fun activities, what about Nemacolin in PA? St. Barths, if you have enough dough to do it righ (food is almost all french and some of the best meals I've had in the world).

One of those over the water bungalows ANYWHERE. I just want to look out at the water, read, swim, drink fruity drinks, nap, eat delicious food, and have sex.

Corfu Greece. Beautiful. But I would bring the kids. too far for me to leave them. How about the most romantic city in American, Charleston South Carolina.

OP here. Thanks to all you DCUM travelers for sharing your ideas about fabulous destinations with me. It's been fun to ponder different possibilities, and I'm even more excited now for this getaway. My husband and I are seriously overdue for a vacation together. I really think we'd both be thrilled with any little trip, let alone a whole week together someplace fabulous/foreign. After much daydreaming, I've decided to go with Italy. I think April is a perfect time to travel in Italy, and I believe my husband will absolutley love it (he told me to choose anywhere in the world which I realize now was his clever way of getting me to make all the plans, which I don't terribly mind!). I still have to narrow down exactly where in Italy we'll go - perhaps Rome-Florence, or Florence-Venice, Rome-Amalfi Coast, or simply Florence as one PP suggested. Never been to Venice so it may be nice to explore somewhere neither of us had ever ventured. Thanks so much all for sharing your great ideas! It was fun!

I was going to suggest Italy. We went on a great trip to Italy in March a couple years ago with my then 3.5 year old daughter. It would have been fabulous trip if we were by ourselves.

If it were me, I'd do Florence, Siena, Lucca. Rome is fun too but bustling and Venice of course is also great (but I've already been to Rome and Venice).

We are planning our 10th anniversary (next summer) and asking ourselves the same question. In our case, I think the answer is Hawaii. I have never been there, DH hasn't been for many years and we have oodles of miles on American Airlines (hopefully they will still take them!) But if we hadn't recently spent time in Europe I would've selected Italy too :0)
