But what was the earliest you'd tested? There's something called the hook effect(?) where once you're far enough along it actually Wouldn't show up on a test |
| Yes, with my first kid. I kept taking HPT's and getting negatives and even got a blood test that was negative too. Then, ~3 weeks after my period was due, I finally got an HPT positive. Turned out to be delayed ovulating. |
+1. That looks like a bump. I'd insist on a blood test or ultrasound at the doctor. You could be further than you think and getting your hook effect. |
OP, did you post that photo? I thought that post was a joke from another P. |
| I have a friend who had 2 negative pregnancy tests, thought she was going through menopause and then didn't find out she was pregnant until she was like 18 weeks along! |
| OP here. Yes I want to be pregnant and that was a picture I took last night. I agree it clearly looks like a bump, but I should definitely be getting a positive. My doctor cancelled my appointment so now I have to wait even longer! |
| I'm interested to hear how this turns out for you, OP. I'm in a similar situation. Per fertility monitor, I had high fertility for over a week, but it dropped to low without peak (ovulation). I am now on cycle day 54 and still no period... but had a negative HPT two weeks ago and again a few days ago. I'm assuming it's just an extra long cycle because it was anovulatory, but this is new to me as my periods have always been regular. I'd love to find out I'm pregnancy since we've been TTC #2 for 10 months now, but it seems pretty unlikely given ovulation was not detected this cycle. And I don't have that bump like you either... |
If it's really killing you to wait, you can go to the ER or Planned Parenthood. Some PP locations offer dating ultrasounds, some only offer urine tests. I would NOT go to a crisis pregnancy center, they are known for giving you false results (saying your further along or earlier than you really are). Good luck! Please update us! |
Please don't go to the ER for this . ER's are for medical emergencies not because your period is just late |
Ah ok. Well then I hope you really are! But I just don't want you to get your hopes TOO up reading about the people it did happen to, because it's really rare...and wishful thinking can be deceivingly powerful. How long have you been off birth control? Have you ever been pregnant before? Definitely report back! |

Just get a lab slip from you OB and go to lab corp. Should be covered by insurance. This is what IVF ladies do (and then you should return to see if it's climbing appropriately).
If you get a positive, beta, you should schedule an ultrasound. |
PP who posted that - agreed, it is not the best use of an ER. Just wanted to put it out there because it's a better option than a CPC, if OP isn't going to wait. OP, I think you should act like you're pregnant (stop drinking, etc.), just in case, and wait for your appointment. You can also try diluting your urine with 50/50 urine and water. If it's the hook effect, you may get a positive that way. https://fetalmedicine.org/abstracts/2015/var/pdf/abstracts/0719.pdf |
| Op again, I got a lab slip and will be getting a beta done tomorrow. I also have an appointment scheduled with my obgyn because if I'm not pregnant, the growing belly bump is concerning. |
| Also, this may be stupid, but we're all your HPTs from the same box/batch? They might just be bad tests, or you used a Ovulation test on accident? Have you actually, recently, just gone to the store, bought a new test, and taken it? |
OK, definitely report back. Inquiring minds want to know! |
