Taking a baby to get a perm

My thought was that I don't love breathing the fumes off my highlights so I'd rather leave the baby at home with DH but I thought it was interesting that my stylist was supportive of it.

I'd be less concerned about highlights than a perm (less dripping chemical potential), but still wouldn't do it.

Guarantee your stylist has seen a lot of client loss to new moms who don't have the time/money/energy/give-a-damns to keep up with their hair routine.

I know some crunchy moms who place importance on attachment and breastfeeding above most everything. It's odd that she doesn't think about the fumes. But not surprising.

(Attachment parents, please take this at face value and don't read anything into it).

You don't know many black people, do you?

I have taken my 3.5 month baby to two haircuts. I asked my stylist, while pregnant, if I could bring her and was told yes. Can you ask your stylist?

Perms are not in style and children are really not welcome in a salon. Get a babysitter.

Clearly no one here does, from the responses.

OP here. I'm sure the DCUM world will get a kick out of this but I actually wanted to get a straight perm. Asian women sometimes straight perm their already straight hair to get it silky straight. My hair is naturally kind of frizzy. I had not gotten my hair done for almost a year so I was long overdue.

I ended up getting a sitter but when I was at the salon, I was thinking that it probably would have been fine to bring the baby.

Details please. What is a straight perm and where do you go for this treatment?

Why would anyone get a perm? It's not 1980.

OP here. It's a 2-3 hour process where you get silky straight hair at the end. i'm from ny and a lot of jewish girls also get this done.

I'm another frizzy haired woman. Just yesterday I got something called a "Brazilian Blowout." It took about 4 hours total, but some of that included getting my hair colored (highlights) and a light trim. Just thought I'd give you another option to look into. Yesterday was my first time getting it, but so far I love it.

Wait, what? I don't know anyone who gets perms. I think my mom and her friends had them when I was in 5th grade or so.
