Marlon at Fairfax. Jimmy trained him. He’s very good. Need to make an appointment.

+1

Go to him for skate sharpening too. Totally worth it.

Don’t go to cabin John pro shop.
We use Dan Hollander out of his home in Germantown. http://www.danhollander.com/skate-sharpening-1 he and his wife are both skating coaches at CJ.

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of info I needed- had been warned against the cabin John shop by someone else but did not know where else to go.

My skater insists on sharpening from Kevin Sidwell - he is easy to communicate with about your skater's personal needs.

Before Kevin was up and running, we were happy with occasionally sharpening at Cabin John. The key is to be specific and communicate your needs (what level jumps, dance, synchro, hockey, etc.) and/or when in doubt, ask your coach!

Any other recommendations, or second a recommendation? I go to the Medstar Iceplex/ Kettlers ice arena to skate, but do not get my skates sharpened there.

I used to skate competitively, but no longer. i don't want my intermediate freestyle blades to get ruined, as they have in the past.

OP / Go to Olga at Reston Skatequest.

She’s absolutely amazing. Perfectionist.

Call the pro-shop and ask for her schedule. Call her when she’s at the shop, make an appointment and let her work her magic.
