How often do you replace your cutlery?

We lose it when we take it to work etc.

We don't take it out of our house. There's silverware at each of our jobs.

NP here, you never eat in the car?

No. We eat like civilized people.

In 2003 I sublet a house and the previous tenant asked me to remove all her stuff at the end of the lease (keep or sell, but just move it out so she didn't have to). Kept her nice set of silverware and it's still going strong. Also all her drinking glasses, although I've broken a few.

In the car? We don't take cars to work - we use mass transit and walk. But no, except for when I was pregnant I did not eat while commuting. How are you safely driving if you're eating soup, or cutting steak or something while you're driving?

Cutlery, as in knives? Never, I get them professionally sharpened regularly.

Silverware...I pretty much never lose it, since I don't take it out of the house. So I still have the same set we got when we moved in to our first condo, and it works great. We also have a sterling set that we basically use for holidays.

I never said while I was driving.
When my DH is driving or more commonly during lunch at work, I sit in my car and have Lunch.

This thread is making me laugh - and I say that lovingly.

I am a slob. But first, I try not to eat in the car. It's not really healthy to eat on the go and it's better to eat at a table. Second, if I do need to eat in the car, I try to eat something that doesn't use utensils such as a sandwich. Finally, if I needed to bring eating utensils to work and / or in the car, and I didn't want to use plastic cutlery, AND I had a problem losing my "good" silverware when I brought it out of the house, I would buy something cheap for the express purpose of using it in those occasions so doesn't mess up my whole kitchen set. You're welcome

I never eat in the car, but if you are so insistent on doing it, maybe you could get some cheap silverware or a camping set to keep in the car?

Never. Got it as a wedding present 17 years ago and, no, we're not missing any pieces.

Yep--I think we have every original piece after 6 years and 2 moves.

I don't know how we lose our silverware but I have to add spoons often. I don't typically pack them in our lunches either, so not exactly sure how we lose them.

I'm rich, I don't worry about replacing my cutlery.

My inlaws have had the same cutlery set for 45 years.

I have lost a piece or two over the years when I entertained. I think guests accidentally throw them away.

Can we get together and trade? I have a million spoons and like 5 forks at the moment.

You don't get tired of looking at the same cutlery for 45 years?
