Oh, my goodness people. That gala is a fundraiser for the Costume Institute at MOMA. They pick a theme and you're supposed to dress to the theme. Granted, I don't follow the Smiths so he may dress weird all the time, but in this case it would be completely appropriate.

NP here. I know the gala has a theme each year, but I honestly don't know what this year's theme is. There was no underlying, coherent theme to what everyone was wearing.
