What a "sad" list - so little safe options to choose from. Unfortunately, even though most of the places listed in the prior posts probably sell fresh, wild caught fish, unless you know which body of water it came from, it can still be contaminated with high levels of mercury and other pollutants. Fresh does not necessarily mean clean. Certain fish (usually the smaller, less fatty ones) absorb less bad stuff. I'd try and stay away from all farmed fish, especally the ones coming from the Pacific area where it is known their farming practices are not so great.

It really is a shame that such a healthy food can be risky to eat (although hot dogs are probably worse!). I think, unless you are pregnant or feeding a small child, moderation is the key.
