YES to Whitney Pinger. She is WAY on board with natural birth and VBAC. Otherwise, maybe give Joey another shot -- perhaps meet with her in person to try to confirm whether or not the fit would be okay. Dr. Tchabo is great, but chances are high that he won't actually deliver your baby.

OP here.
Peggy Franklin may be worth looking into - thanks!

i would love to check out Whitney Pinger, but i'm in central Fairfax, and that is SO out of the way between where i work in Arlington and where DH is on capitol hill (i realize it's not far from him - it's just even further than his office). maybe i am being too picky about that, but the idea of getting to WHC on a regular basis for prenatals and then from here to there for an actual delivery seems like such a HUGE obstacle.

but maybe i'm not motivated enough?

i'm actually seeing karen king now... i'm just not convinced she's going to be the best partner for me.

No, Karen King is not a good option for VBAC. Unfortunately, she is under tight restrictions due to the OB she works for. I think she is really nice, but really not the best fit for a successful VBAC (obviously depending on your circumstances!).

If Joey is the only CNM for HBAC in your area, then you have to follow up on that. I'm not her client but I've attended various meetings with her and she has always come across as very professional, skilled and pleasant.

I know of an ICAN member that had a successful homebirth with Joey...prior to that this person had 2 c-sections.

Sometimes though, you have to suck up a long commute to have the best provider for you. I did it with my second when I switched to Dr. Tchabo. Still ended up with a c-section but at least I felt I had a supportive provider who encouraged me the whole way. I felt much better about that c-section than I did with my first.

Sorry you didn't seem to click with Joey--she has been one of my providers in the past and I thought she was awesome! Good luck to you!

OP here. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback. Talked with DH last night. I'm going to pursue Whitney first... and see how it goes from there.

Hi OP, I just birthed with Peggy Franklin a month ago, and highly recommend her. She has lots of VBAC clients. Don't know whether she is "medical" enough for your DH, if he's really that opposed to HB, but she does have the nursing background and many years of experience, including over 1500 births. Good luck in finding the right care provider for you!
