It's pretty common most students with honor roll in my class received one.

My child received it just this year but has been on the honor roll this year, weird I think my son deserves one. it's unfair to him when he sees all the other kids get one and he doesn't get one when he worked hard for it.

Never heard of such a thing. DD has had 6 quarters of (soon to be 7) ‘A Honor Roll’.
