Daughters and birth control

I think the only options that are reliable enough are IUD, implant, and pills (if she can be reliable about taking them), with condoms for all. Within that range, I'd let her talk to the gynecologist and the two of them can decide what is best for her.

My 17 year old DD is on the BC pill. She went on when she was around 15. She had very bad cramps and other PMS symptoms and it was suggested that she visit a Gyn by her Ped.

She's had no serious boyfriend and I wasn't worried about her forgetting to take the pill because she's been taking another medication every morning since she was 13 and has never forgotten a dose. She was my kid who would remind me as a parent when it was time for more of her antibiotic. I was THAT mom. I'm still THAT mom & woman, which is why as soon as I was in college I got on something other than the pill. Even with a little pill box in my purse, I forget to take my daily meds all the time.

+1 I didn't want to get too involved. It was a decision she made with her Dr. I want my daughter to have a confident relationship with her Dr. it's really not my business just my business to keep her safe.

The extent of my help is two fold:

1. Driving her if necessary to an OBGYN where the two of them can make the best decision for her.

2. Offer her my credit card to buy the vibrator or her choice for under $100.

Amazon packages arrive for all family members. I monitor the charges but don't see the items ordered. She has her own account. What do I know?

Letting her know that masturbating is healthy and normal (and done in private) was something that started a decade ago.

I'd suggest the Skyla IUD. It is smallest and fits best for most teens.

I personally have the Mirena and love it, and has NuvaRing for 10 years prior. I was on the pill for 2 weeks at age 18 and just couldn't get on a schedule to take it reliably. Set it and forget it has been wonderful.

NP here but endometriosis can cause fertility problems. She's preventing the tissue growth using BCP.
