Why do restaurants use raw red onions?

OMG, why can't the world adjust itself to you, princess.

Why do restaurants serve the foul burger under the delicious slice of red onion? No one likes the stinking carcass, why would they serve such a thing?

Raw white onions are fine to me. And cooked red are fine. But raw red is so gross. They overpower everything. Is it just because they're pretty and cheap?

I have to join PP in her eye roll. You like raw white onion, but raw red onion is "gross"? Uh, no.

Also, you think red onions are cheaper than regular onions? They are not.

Fellow onion hater here who always immediately tell when my DH has had onions for lunch. Ugh. For the love of all his coworkers, I remind him again and again to either skip the onions or do something else about it. Nasty. All you onion-lovers: take heed as well.

Okay, but does he eat raw white onions or raw red onions?

I agree they can be too strong and overpower the rest of the dish. And I LIKE red onions.

I totally agree. I make it a point to ask for no onions on salads, sandwiches, etc. If I forget, I'll either remove them or won't eat. I cannot stand tasting onions all day.
