How do you support someone when they do something stupid

I did this with a sibling who was dating a horrible person. It was difficult but I would definitely recommend this approach.

As her dear friend, you can be honest about your true feelings regarding this man.

However you should also, as her dear friend stand by whatever she wants to do whether you are in agreement or not.

That is being a real friend.
