Baltimore's population has been in steady decline since the 1950s.

There has been an unabated epidemic of murders since the riots following the arrest/death of Freddy Grey.

Couple these facts with incompetent leadership, and Baltimore city's future is not bright.

Connecting Balitmore to DC would be the greatest thing to ever happen to Baltimore. It would essentially inject the turbocharged gentrification we've seen in DC into Baltimore. In a couple of decades, Baltimore would be unrecognizable.

Guess they would connect all the major airports from NYC to DC(well really Baltimore). DC to Philadelphia in 25-30 minutes...that longer vs many people's commutes now.

If you are the governor of Md or Pa, you should be all over this. An investment like with will increase property values and the tax base. Baltimore and Philadelphia basically have vacant housing stock.

I don't want to be exposed to people being brought into D.C. who can only afford $150K homes. It's a low brow crowd.

I don't want to be exposed to people being brought into D.C. who can only afford $150K homes. It's a low brow crowd.

Too bad they will probably end up adding a stop every mile or so so that no one gets 'left out' and keep the speed down to comply with some regulation or other, and the train will never get over 40 MPH. It will just be another crappy Metro train in the end.

But the transit within Baltimore is non-existent. What caused gentrification in D.C. was a certain urban, walkable lifestyle. Metro helps with that.

In Baltimore, there is nothing equivalent to Metro. So maglev will get you to one section of Baltimore, but it won't link up with any transit within Baltimore.
