Another way to look at it:
If you lose five pounds, it's not like you can't gain them back if you're not happy with how you look or feel. If you continue eating your cookies, biscotti, muffins, pancakes, etc., you may eventually gain, and it will be much more difficult to lose ten pounds, versus your current five. |
Well, it's very possible the non-sweet comments were deleted! We'll never know! |
I love my carbs and sweets too and 5 pounds is really nothing to stress over in my opinion. I imagine you have a great figure OP. However, every once in a while I do cut the junk/sweets for a month or so. I feel like shit the first couple of days but after that I don't miss it at all and I find my skin looks clearer which is a plus. Something to consider. |
I literally just decided not to bother losing the last 5 lbs. I just read this article about yo yo dieting when you are already a healthy BMI, and it really hit home: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/wellness/yo-yo-dieting-isnt-just-counterproductive--it-could-put-you-at-risk/2017/03/27/329ecd90-0d9e-11e7-ab07-07d9f521f6b5_story.html?utm_term=.8548ea13b8aa
It's more important to think about healthy habits than to restrict food when you don't need to lose weight, because restricting food can end up backfiring on you. |
Not questioning your decision, but restricting food is very different than cutting out cookies, biscotti, muffins, pancakes, etc. |
This would be a plus -- I get acne during my period and I wonder if this would help. |
Cutting out "all refined carbs" (sounds like what you are saying) definitely is restriction. If you can lose 5lbs easily by cutting out a muffin a week, sure go for it. But creating a calorie deficit to lose 5 lbs when you are already a normal BMI is likely going to take more than that. |
I'm truly terrible at dieting. I just hate it. So when I need to lose I up my workouts. |
I would just try to go from "pretty good shape" to "great shape" and see what happens instead of dieting.
I am 51 and don't have a pot belly but I am in great shape and let myself have dessert when I feel like it. I eat well most of the time and never go on diets. |
NOT worth it.
I lost the last five pounds. My tummy is always, always flat now. Unfortunately, my boobs went down like two sizes. ![]() |
Doesn't happen to everyone. I am the 51 yo above you. I am a c cup which is what I have always been and they look great with a flat stomach. |
sounds like you are really thin but have a bit of a belly. Possible that you have a separation of the rectus abdominis? There are specific exercises for this and ones to avoid. Maybe you could flatten your belly and still eat cake. |
You lost weight? |
There are days I really want to get back under 125 pounds (I'm currently 130). But I'm still a size 4-6 and happy with my build--I have to remind myself that I'm really just bothered by the number, not my looks or size. I love sweets and I love to eat out. It's just not worth it to me to give up what gives me a little bit of pleasure to weigh less and probably still wear the same size and not look much different. I read other people's posts about their diets and never allowing themselves sugar or a treat and it makes me sad for them. My fiancé finds me to be really hot just the way I am! |
