Wow op... DC didn't know about importance of safeties?

She did. Just refused to submit an app to a place she'd never attend.

Hmm. I feel for her, but refusing to apply for "a place she would never attend," when that includes every single possible safety school and anything but the rarefied collection of schools you have listed, shows a lack of maturity and long-sightedness. Something isn't right.

If she takes a gap year and reapplies to a wider variety of schools, she'll have another two quarters of grades plus her final grades from this year. (She does NOT get to have senioritis.) She can also apply for January entry as a freshman to some places.

UTDallas and New College have good honors programs.

What does this mean, "never attend." She would never attend any school not at the level of the ones that rejected her?

Frankly it sounds like she needed this lesson.

I think Penn State and UPitt have rolling admissions. Both are respectable schools. She can always transfer out. Also, Middlebury admits some kids to start in Jan. What about U. Of Montana in Missoula or Billings? Amazing outdoors and pretty good schools. Can be a transformative experience. Just working and saving money for a year is not a bad thing either. Maybe she can still make some admissions deadlines abroad?

If she wont attend a "lesser" school it seems like her options are pretty limited. Maybe she will be more open to other colleges after her friends all go off to school in the fall.

Many state schools have rolling admissions.

Given what OP has said about the other schools' decisions, Middlebury is out of the question and they have admitted the class of 2021. Their "Feb class" is admitted at the time the "regs" are admitted.

Is your child in public or private school, OP?

There are some pretty decent/respectable schools on this list with April (UIowa, Oklahoma, College of Charleston, New College of Florida, University of Utah) deadlines and May deadlines (Clemson, IUPUI, U of Arizona) even July.. (Iowa State, Duquesne, UT-Dallas, Elmhurst College, SUNY at Purchase) and August (Belmont, Texas Tech, U of Arkansas, U of North Texas, U of Wyoming, Otterbein, U of Louisville)...plus others.

This is actually super helpful both to the OP and anyone else in a similar spot.

Yes - thank you, PP! I am not in this situation but there are plenty of schools on that list I think OP's daughter could be happy at (or not).

What were her stats, including early and final tests?

U of Pittsburgh has rolling admissions. I know one kid from a prestigious private school who has opted to attend and really likes what they're offering.

Not sure whether OP is a Virginia resident, but you can attend any VCCS school such as NVCC and have guaranteed admission to the likes of UVA and William & Mary provided you take the right courses and maintain a 3.4 GPA.

Life lesson. Some are harder than others. It won't be the end, as PPs have noted there are schools with application deadlines still open. She may change her mind a bit now. Gap year is still a good option, but this time she should have learned a bit and aim better. Make sure she is with people tomorrow and Friday and over the weekend.
