First date--go or not

The age issue should be a concern but you need some "practice" dating and a social life so go for it.

A couple of years ago I was in the same position as OP and was set up on a blind date with a guy 60+. I had the same concerns as OP. He was a great guy but after about six months we both realized that the age difference was too much, even for him as he definitely understood and shared my concerns. We had a ton of fun together and I was amazed how good the sex was unaided by viagra or anything else. He's about to get married and I only wish I could have been 10-15 years older when I met him. His soon to be wife is in her mid 50's. I'm dating a nice guy in his late 40's and I'm hopeful!

And your cats appreciate you for that.

Report back ladies. Are you happy you went?

He saved me the trouble. I was honest with him that I had concerns about the age difference. He wrote back that I was immature and didn't know how dating works. That a 45-50 year old man is interested in the 25-35 set and that I need to understand that that the men interested in my age group are in their 60s.

And with that, I deleted him and had a lovely dinner of cheese and crackers, 2 glasses of wine, took a hot bath, and watched Fences.

Wow, what an asshole!

FWIW, both my cousin and another friend have found someone near their own ages (40-45) lately, so there are normal divorced/single people out there.
