| you need to leave the school. sorry. DCPS employees can't touch kids and can't expel them so...they have restorative justice and responsive classroom programs...but your son needs physical safety. You can provide that, DCPS can't. |
My kid was bullied constantly in Catholic school. Don't be fooled into thinking it any different there or that they do anything about it. |
|
This is exactly where I am today and I regret not doing something sooner. My DH comes from a family of educators, exceptional ones, and he has done things by the book. If we do this, say this, the principal will do the right thing. "Let's wait for him to give us a plan approach." It just hasn't worked very well. I stormed into the office today and raised hell. That got some attention. Anyway- right now private school is not an option, but homeschooling is.
I'm not even going to wade into the race question. |

Call the ombudsman - they can get you placed at a different school. Your child has a right to education and not getting bullied in the process.
If you are not sending your child to school b/c of concerns that your child will get hurt, send an email to the teacher and the attendance person at school and state..... Johnny will not be at school today. As you are aware the following items have occurred and no action plan has been put in place to address these items. Further, on 3/21 I met with principal XXX and was told that there are no steps that can be taken to support the safety of my child. |
| We had problems with bullying at Brent -- the principal did nothing. Sorry you're going through this. |
Agree x 100 -- and call 911 to report. If you're engaged enough to post here, you have to be strong enough to step out. |
|
OP, please name the school!!
I've been planning to enroll my son in DCPS this year, but incidents like this make me think twice. Your poor son--I'm so sorry this is happening and I hope you can find a better place for him soon. |
This. DCPS will place him at another public, private or pay for homeschool tutor. You have to advocate for yourself, maybe get an attorney if it comes to it ( DCPS will reimburse). I am so sorry this is happening to you. Your kid is young, so keeping him out of school a little hopefully won't hurt. |
Go away! |
| Not one more day there! I'm so sorry OP. |
|
1. Call the police
2. Document everything, email principal & chancellor every time. 3. Meet 1-1 w/ teachers, support staff, custodians etc. to ask what is going on & for recommendations about what to do. 4. Contact your councilmember, & Grosso, & Vincent Gray , & mayor, & deputy mayor for education. 5. Demand a specific solution. An aid to monitor the situation? Intervention w/ the kids? |
Oh and I forgot: 6. Talk to other parents. Perhaps hang out at drop off and ask whether their kids feel safe. Find allies. 7. Perhaps try to calmly talk to the parents of the bullies? |
Oh and go to the news |
Please explain op |
Wtf??! What difference does it make? Are you talking about race of kids? Principal? If it's white on white does that make it different then black on white, black on white, or black on black??? It's ludicrous that it's happening regardless of race of parties. Please explain PP. you are what I despise about DCUM. |
