I think Krav Maga is good but I prefer Jui Jitsu since it teachers a girl how to fight while on her back.

The truth is your daughter most likely will not be raped like the Rockville HS cases, that is extremely rare... Which is why it is all over the news and it is a politically charged story.

Your daughter will most likely be raped by a boy she is dating or a boy that takes her drinking in hs/college.

Krav Maga was designed by a small guy specifically for the purpose of getting away - not vanquishing an opponent - but getting away alive. Since every woman in Israel has to serve in the army, it's been a very effective tool. Let me tell you, I]ve traveled the world and no one messes with an Israeli, man or woman. They just have the look that they can defend themselves. Krav Maga is truly awesome. I've taken it and my 12 year old daughter is going to take it this summer. The only place I know is in Chevy Chase, MD. I took it when it was offered downtown, but I'm not sure it's there anymore. I think the JCC on 16th used to also offer it.

I was wondering how old you'd need to be to start this. So, thank for responding.

My two sons will also be fairly small, so will be signing them up also. I think there is a place in Rockville that I saw offers Krav Maga classes.

OP here. Not comfortable with getting a gun, and not comfortable with getting my kids guns either. They can choose to get guns when they're older if that's what they want. Plus, you can't carry a gun to school and the Rockville HS rape took place AT school, so thinking about what other options might be out there.

I used to carry mace everywhere when I lived in Chicago, but even mace isn't allowed at school.

But, we're a little far from Chevy Chase.
