Preschool and Daycare Discussion
| What is the difference between Caterpillar Preschool and Caterpillar Co-Op? (Other than the fact that one is a co-op, obviously.) Same administration? |
| Why did the co-op close? Not enough enrollment? |
| The co-op is closing because the church was going to increase its rent by close to 50%, among other things . . . |
|
The Preschool is a different administration from the Co-Op. The Preschool also is licensed through OSSE and offers French and Spanish immersion classes.
|
| Didn't think the rent was being increased, just classroom space being reallocated. Plus, there were licensing issues that cost too much. |
| Totally different staff and administration. It will not be the same. The Coop was amazing. It so sad they had to close. |
| The rent was definitely being increased and the co-op was going to have to share space. The co-op has been treated horribly; promises were broken and its name was used for the new preschool in order to capitalize on its reputation. The co-op was essentially forced out because it was financially impossible to stay and because the co-op teachers and parents were being mistreated. If you are considering this new school, PLEASE look into its licensing as well as the certification/training of its teachers, as these have been problems in the past. Any co-op parent with a child currently in the school would be a good source of information on this. |

Hello, does anyone have any recent experience with Caterpillar Preschool in Tenleytown? I'm interested in either their French or Spanish immersion program for my 3 year old, but don't see many references to it on DCUM. Their website is a year out of date, which in combination with the comments above from last year about licensing makes me wonder...
Thanks in advance! |

| i thought they closed |

I would be very surprise if the new people managed to keep it open. They had no clue what they were doing. If the website is that outdated I would imagine they are not opening next year.
|
| The co-op is closed but the preschool is open and running french as well as spanish programs. Any parents out there than can speak about the preschool now, how it's run and how the teachers are? There were obviously issues in the past, but how are things now? |
