DD says she's nauseous all the time

Of course OP should take DD to a doctor. But until she can get her DD in AND the doctor can figure it out she should know about things like saltines and ginger ale.

FWIW my DD was throwing up several times a day, and it was dismissed by both the pediatrician and the GI doctor (who did nonetheless prescribe Zofran) although we went back to both many times at DD's insistence. (A sign this was not an eating disorder although the pediatrician kept telling me her suspicions, which was causing her to blow her off.)

After TWO years of this we switched primary car doctors and the new one ordered a test that showed the severe gastroparesis.

During those two years I sure would have appreciated the information about saltines and ginger ale and the right diet to strive for, as well as the need for huge amounts of Gatorade to restore depleted electrolytes.

My DD had the same. Turns out it was a milk allergy.

OP here. Thanks all. DD is definitely not pregnant and definitely doesn't have an eating disorder. She does take Lactaid when eating any milk products but it happens even without eating dairy or with having a Lactaid.

I am not in any rush to put her on medication for the rest of her life. We will begin with natural remedies and progress if those don't fix things. I will tell her to try a couple of saltines and see about ginger tea, and talk about post-nasal drip first.

My 16 year old is dealing with this.

It started with nausea whenever she ate something heavy or a large meal, and now 3 months later has progressed to stomach pain after she eats anything. She has had an ultrasound, extensive bloodwork, an upper GI, and finally an upper endoscopy. She was ultimately found to have gastritis, but the cause has not yet been determined. We are waiting on the next GI appt in a couple weeks.

She has lost 15 pounds in the past 6 months and is down to 105 lbs at 5'6". I'm hoping they can fix this before she disappears.

For Op, another question is whether she's taking vitamins--those can cause nausea.

OP, take her to the doctor. Taking her to the doctor =/= putting her on medication for the rest of her life. Taking her to the doctor = getting more information about what the problem might be.

OP get her checked. Full blood work. I had loss of appetite and felt sick and had a serious condition which required an operation. Now I'm fixed but if I hadn't had the blood work checked I'd just have got worse and worse and died.

Pp here who has a dd with a similar issue. Please take your daughter to the doctor. It could be nothing...it could be life threatening. It's not worth the risk you're taking by waiting.

You can do natural remedies for sure, but more likely with more success if you have a diagnosis. I hope this is something that flat fingernail can handle.

Ginger ale. Not fingernail.

Good luck with this and finding a remedy. I'm sorry she is so ill.

I can't believe you and your DD don't want to go to the dr. for your own peace of mind?? And if she doesn't - well she's a child, you're the parent that can force this. Go to the dr. Have him/her rule out everything. THEN decide whether saltines or ginger tea or whatever is best. If she has a milk allergy - recently learned that there are foods that have milk ingredients even though you wouldn't think of them as dairy foods - could be something like that that's bothering her. Could be a simple acid reflux or post nasal drip - for which they can provide meds for a few weeks, not necessarily a "rest of her life" issue. Could also be some random vitamin deficiency - they can cause weird symptoms and once they're resolved, it's back to normal. Go to the doctor!

My kid's experience was a severe constipation issue--definitely needed a doctor.
