| If you live in the catchment area and the child does not attend the County's public schools, you need to apply for an ID number for the child. CPA and other county charter schools get many applications for their lottery for children who have not previously attended County public schools. |
| It would seem as though they would take the other 35% from the waitlist. Not from specific schools. Maybe they are trying to support their neighborhood kids. Interesting??? |
Specifically, College Park. It is College Park Academy with a connection to UMD. They are trying to attract more UMD professors to live nearby, and the absence of a MS/HS option is preventative. |
I think the 35V% is for upcoming lottery not the one for the current school year. |
The CPA Website contains the following language: "Starting with incoming 6th graders in Fall of 2018, students living in the boundaries of these six area elementary schools will be admitted to College Park Academy The following areas have the opportunity to fill at least 35 percent of College Park Academy's seats: Berwyn Heights, Cherokee Lane, Hollywood, Paint Branch, Riverdale, University Park. CLICK HERE to view an interactive boundary map. Please note: Families living elsewhere in Prince George’s County can also apply, but local children (detailed above) have preference up to 35 percent of the new enrollments." |
| 35% is pretty small. I might be interested if it were 50% |
I don't get this. what do you not like about kids from outside CP? |
Because I prefer not to have long drives to take my kid to go play with his school friends. Need to get the probability of that low. |
More than 35% can still GO to CPA, they just cap the preference at 35%. |
