RES disagree on diagnoses

OP here. Have done 3 IUIs with Gonal per my insurance requirements but have not done IVF. I wanted to see Abassi first before doing IVF to find out if I have an immune problem first. Turns out I do, big time.

How was your response to stimulation?

Also at 38 your age is likely playing a role. When I went throguh IVF several years ago not all REs believed in immune issues. Personally, I think that suggesting something where the science is as shaky as immune issues to someone over age 35 as a first diagnosis seems a bit odd given that age is more likely to be the reason. Don't they say in med school "when you hear hoofbeats think horses not zebras"

OP here. This is 2 years of TI plus 3 IUIs with Gonal. So 24 cycles of TTC. In my IUIs I only ever made 2 eggs with 375 Gonal which my RE said was okay but not great. So my response to stims may not be great with IVF. No RE suggested immune issues to me--I came to the conclusion on my own through his board that thi moght be my problem and went to see Dr. Abassi to get tested before starting my first IVF. And I'm very glad I did because IVF would have failed too.

OP here. Well, it's better than one egg at least! The other problem with my IUIs is that I ovulated through the stims each time. I ovulated on Day 9 which was too early which RE said was indicative of poor egg quality.

Part of me wants to not waste any more time and go straight to donor eggs. But I am uneasy about the immune treatments.

There is nothing thing scary about immune treatments. Perhaps it will just be Lovenix and low dose prednisone for early pregnancy. No big deal. Intealupids are also no big deal. Give it a try.

Sound like you have more than 1 thing going on. It is possible to have "old eggs" and immune issues.

OP here. I think this could be very true. But I feel like it's an insurmountable obstacle. I don't know how much I want to keep going to find the golden egg vs. heading to donor eggs ASAP.

OP, we were in a similar situation. Like you, we'd tried for two years on our own and never a single BFP. I did immune testing and it uncovered significant issues. We decided to give it one OE iVF cycle with immune treatment to see what happened before resulting to donor eggs. With stims I ended up having only one egg. My RE was nice enough to let me go to retrieval anyway but it was dead. That was enough for me and we turned to DE. I got pregnant with DC #1 on my first cycle of DE + immune. Two years later we tried an FET with immune again and that gave us DC #2.

Shady grove tells everybody that it's old eggs, it's their cop out. Your AMH is on the lower side but AFC is OK. What was the issue on the immune tests exactly?

You need the right protocol to get those follicles to grow. Depending on what your immune issue is, I'd go with Abbasi. But it will be pricier most likely.

OP here. Thanks for sharing your story! What was your AMH when you tried your one OE cycle? What were your immune treatment protocol? The immune treatments scare me quite frankly.

OP here. I think the question is, what wasn't abnormal on my immune tests? Pretty much every number abnormal. I can give specifics from my report if anyone has specific questions.

If there are clearly immune issues, why are you hesitating on whether to pick an RE who will treat them?

If you do have immune issues, you'll still need to resolve that for de to be successful.

Because a) I still am not 100% on board with the idea of immune issues, and b) I am scared of the immune treatments, and how they may negatively affect my health and the baby's health.
