The board member is a Bean heir. |
What's so weird about Trump is that he says and does whatever occurs to him at the moment. He doesn't seem to engage his brain ever.
Telling people to purchase LL Bean goods after a LL Bean board member give Trump a load of cash MUST be illegal. Or will it be illegal only when he becomes POTUS? |
Two explanations here, they're both true: 1. He doesn't know anything 2. He doesn't even know that he doesn't know anything He opens his mouth and his lips flap whatever he feels like flapping that second. There's no thought, no discretion, no circumspection, no rehearsal, no consideration, no self editing. He communicates both in lack of filter and in substance of speech at the level of a child. |
+1 I keep coming back to the word that came to mind on Nov. 9th... horrified. I was hoping that feeling would abate as time passed. Hillary's speech on Nov. 9th seemed to reassure us. Pres. Obama's address on Nov. 9 (or thereabouts) seemed to assure us things would be o.k. But, I cannot shake "horrified" from my daily reactions. |
Just add this ethics violation to the list. Though the quid pro quo is so much more blatant here. TBH, I keep thinking to myself that there's no way DJT is as clueless as he's presenting himself as. Which really does make me wonder if he continues to step up the outrage in the hopes that something will stick and prevent him from being sworn in...but all this stuff just keeps making him more popular. He's caught in the "Office Space" trap. But all of this is really just me trying to make sense of the completely senseless. |
LOL I just found something very and affordable on their site, and I will most definitely continue to buy from them. They put their money where their mouth is, and I respect that. |
L.L. Bean has demonstrated good sense. I'm going to its Website now to dump a ton of money. |
This is very true. Or he is, literally, crazy. Or he is a narcissist and really enjoys the drama. I mean, for someone with that, this is epic. And now no one's talking about his entanglements in China... |
He does it because all of this is OKAY with his supporters, he understands ratings and his supporters don't care about conflicts with regard to what a President should say or promote, to them he is the messiah who is gonna bring back the America of the 50's and for that they sold their soul. Also, L.L Bean is an American Icon, in his mind he is promoting but American (though majority of their stuff is manufactured overseas ). I can bet my house that neither him nor his family has never owned a L.L Bean product. |
That's fine but we are not talking about that. The OP's point was the issue of whether it is appropriate for a PEOTUS to encourage his followers to patronize a certain business because they contributed to his campaign. Sounds like the "pay for Play" that he and so many of his voters railed against. |
Oh, I get OP's point ![]() |
Mostly China, for whatever that's worth to you. |
??? China is not a swear word. LLBean is decent quality for the price with a generous return policy. I gather it don't matter to you in the ivory tower, but we, the great unwashed, certainly appreciate small things in life. |
LLbean clothes are ugly. |
At a minimum, Trump should avoid talking about companies in his Twitter feed. It's really unfair to companies and their workers. He may think he's helping them out, but too many will make knee-jerk decisions, like not buying.
This guy is a reckless fool. |
